The Handoff Guide extension stores guide text and screenshots in this browser’s local IndexedDB storage. It has no accounts, cloud sync, analytics, advertising, AI service, or application network requests. It does not transmit guide content to the developer or third parties.

You choose what to capture

The extension requests only activeTab access. Opening the extension and selecting “Capture this screen” captures the visible page. It does not automatically record clicks, typing, browsing history, passwords, or background tabs. A screenshot can still contain private information visible on the page. Website URLs and page titles are not added to your guide automatically.

Review before sharing

Unedited screenshots remain locally saved until you edit or remove them. Applying redactions replaces the saved image with a new image whose covered pixels are solid black. The application does not keep an undo copy after applying changes. This is not a forensic secure-erasure guarantee for disk backups or browser storage. Previous exports are not updated when you edit a guide.

Exports are files you control

Exported HTML includes the guide’s text and edited images and can be read offline. It contains no scripts or external assets. You choose who receives it. Inspect the complete guide before sending it.

Storage and deletion

Guides persist in this browser profile until you remove them or the browser clears the data. Uninstalling the extension removes its local data. There is no automatic backup or cross-device restore. Export important guides before uninstalling, clearing browser storage, or switching profiles. HTML exports are readable copies, not importable editing backups.

Limited use

We use information received from Chrome APIs only to create, edit, and export guides that you request. Our use of this information adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Contact Jonathan Sumpter at jsumpter415@gmail.com. If you email this address, your email address, message, and any attachments are received through Gmail to handle your request. The extension does not send these automatically. Please avoid sending sensitive screenshots or passwords.

Visiting this policy page

This policy page is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes web requests, including technical information such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site. This page contains no analytics scripts, advertising, forms, or embedded third-party content. Its hosting is separate from the extension’s local guide storage.

This policy describes version 0.1.0. We will update it if the extension’s data handling changes. The date above identifies this version of the policy.
